KWG Open Meeting

Join us at 6:30 this evening, Thursday, October 16 for an open meeting.

You’re invited to bring a short piece of writing to share.

This is a monthly opportunity for writers–of any experience level–to get informal feedback from other writers, and to provide feedback on the works of other writers.  The focus is on what’s working in each piece, and what questions each piece leaves the reader with.

Be Part of October’s Audio Recording

The Kenosha Writers’ Guild is going into the studio to record its next audio program on Friday, October 17th.

If you’re interested in reading your work for the October recording, please see the
submission guidelines.

The recording date is Friday, October 17th at Gateway Technical College in Kenosha, at 3:00 PM.

Deadline for submissions is Wednesday, October 15th.

Selected readers will be notified by Thursday the 16th.

Be Part of September’s Radio Recording

Here’s your chance to be part of a recording that will include Wisconsin author Michael Perry!

The Kenosha Writers Guild is going into the studio to record its next radio program on Friday, September 19th. We will be interviewing Michael Perry, but also need some open mic readers.

If you are interested in reading your work on the air, please see the following submission guidelines:

Submission Guidelines
– any form – prose, poetry, play, essay, script, etc.
– subject matter and language is not an issue, but nothing vulgar.
– 500 word count maximum. You may submit more than one piece if the total doesn’t exceed 500 words, but in order to get as many readers as possible, only one piece may be selected for performance on air.
– submissions should be e-mailed to Chris DeGuire at darthdeguire@yahoo.com preferably in Courier font.
– the deadline is Wednesday, September 17th.

Looking to get specific feedback on your writing from other writers?

Consider participating in a KWG in-depth critique.

During each in-depth critique, writers focus on what’s working in each submitted piece, and what questions each piece leaves the reader with.

Note: We encourage attending at least one open meeting before participating in an in-depth critique.

This Thursday, August 14th at 6:30pm, author Amy Gail Hansen will speak about her novel “The Butterfly Sister,” which is set at a fictional college inspired by Kenosha’s Carthage College. The event will be in room 170 of the Hedburg Library at Carthage College.
