Join January’s Audio Show

The Kenosha Writers Guild is going into the studio to record its next audio program on Friday, January 16th. If you are interested in reading your work on the show that is broadcast via YouTube, please see the following submission guidelines:

Submission Guidelines
– any form – prose, poetry, play, essay, script, etc.
– subject matter is not an issue, but language can be, so be mindful. Strong language is discouraged, so if you have a piece with rough language, edit it or submit an alternative.
– 1000 word count, give or take. You may submit more than one piece if the total doesn’t exceed 1000 words, but in order to get as many readers as possible, only one piece may be selected for performance on air.
– submissions should be e-mailed to Chris DeGuire at darthdeguire@yahoo.com preferably in Courier font.
– the deadline is Wednesday, January 14th.

The recording date will be Friday, January 16th, at Gateway Technical College in Kenosha, at 3:00 PM. The deadline for submissions will be Wednesday, January 14th. Selected readers will be notified by Thursday the 15th.

Thursday, January 8, 6:30 p.m. – Storytelling Workshop Part 2

Mic on Stage

Thursday, January 8 at 6:30 p.m. will be a continuation of the storytelling workshop we had in October.

Members who want to tell a story during this workshop should come prepared with an 8 to 10-minute story that you have practiced a few times.

Tom Clark, the presenter from October, will be on hand to provide feedback.

All members are welcome to attend this event, and to provide feedback regarding the telling of the stories.

The Kenosha Writers’ Guild is going into the studio to record its next podcast of Speaking of Our Words on Friday, December 19th. If you are interested in reading your work on the air, please see the following submission guidelines:

 Submission Guidelines
– any form – prose, poetry, play, essay, script, etc.
– subject matter is not an issue, language is not an issue, but nothing too grpahic.
– 1000 word count, give or take. You may submit more than one piece if the total doesn’t exceed 1000 words, but in order to get as many readers as possible, only one piece may be selected for performance.
– submissions should be e-mailed to Chris DeGuire at darthdeguire@yahoo.com preferably in Courier font.
– the deadline is Wednesday, December 17th.
The recording date will be Friday, December 19th, at Gateway Technical College in Kenosha, at 3:00 PM. The deadline for submissions will be Wednesday, December 17th. Selected readers will be notified by Thursday the 18th.

Looking to get specific feedback on your writing from other writers?

Consider participating in a KWG in-depth critique.

During each in-depth critique, writers focus on what’s working in each submitted piece, and what questions each piece leaves the reader with.

All submissions for the November 13th session should be emailed to Chris DeGuire at darthdeguire@yahoo.com by midnight Sunday, November 9th.

Note: We encourage attending at least one open meeting before participating in an in-depth critique.
