Call for Submissions for May’s Audio Program
The Kenosha Writers Guild is going to the studio to record its next audio program on Friday, May 22nd.
This month our featured guests will include the current Poet Laureates of Kenosha and Racine.
If you are interested in reading your work on the air, please see the following submission guidelines:
– Any form: prose, poetry, play, essay, script, etc.
– Subject matter is not an issue, but language can be, so be mindful. Strong language is discouraged, so if you have a piece with rough language, edit it or submit an alternative.
– 1,000 word count, give or take. You may submit more than one piece if the total doesn’t exceed 1000 words, but in order to get as many readers as possible, only one piece may be selected for performance on air.
– Submissions should be e-mailed to Chris DeGuire at darthdeguire@yahoo.com preferably in Courier font.
The recording will be Friday, May 22nd, at Gateway Technical College in Kenosha, at 3:00 PM.
The deadline for submissions is Wednesday, May 20th.
Selected readers will be notified by Thursday the 21st.

Workshop on Thursday, April 9 – Readers Make the Best Writers
Readers make the best writers!
We all love hearing what you write; now we’d like to hear what you read!
For the April 9th second Thursday meeting, bring along a passage to read–whether it’s something from your favorite writer, your favorite book, or just a cool passage. Bring it along to share with the group, and be prepared to discuss why you love it and how it’s influenced your own writing. Then bring a sample of something you’ve written that shows that influence. So that we have enough time for discussion, please limit your reading and writing excerpts to no more than a page each.
This should be fun, and will hopefully broaden our horizons, exposing each of us to writers we may not be familiar with.
